About the presenter:
Emeritus Professor Laurence J. Walsh AO
During his clinical career as a general dentist for 22 years and then 14 years as a specialist, Laurie has conducted clinical trials and laboratory research on numerous bleaching systems and worked with the dental industry to improve their performance and safety.
Over 20 years ago, Laurie developed the first systematic course for comprehensively training dental practitioners in tooth bleaching in Australia, and this was approved by the Dental Board of Queensland, and subsequently by the Dental Board of Australia for the extension of scope of dental practitioners.
Laurie has taught that course numerous times across all parts of Australia and New Zealand. As a specialist in special needs dentistry, Laurie perfected in his clinical practice protocols for the treatment of severe forms of discolouration caused by medical complexity, and he has trained clinicians and lectured on this topic throughout Europe, Asia, and North America as well as ANZ.
He is the world’s most cited author on the topic of laser treatment of tetracycline staining.
In 2004, Laurie also developed the protocol for reversing over bleaching by using GC Tooth Mousse, which is now used around the world. In recognition of his contributions to the field of tooth bleaching, in 2005 Laurie was made a fellow of the International Academy of Dento-Facial Esthetics.
